Summary[]
Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is a continuation of the Call of Duty Black Ops series as it takes place during the Cold War.
Story[]
The year is 1981, and the Cold War is about to heat up as the former Soviet officer now terrorist going by the name "Perseus" has a plan to permanently shift the balance of the Cold War in favor of the USSR. CIA Agent Russel Adler is given a job by President Ronald Reagan to stop Perseus before he alters the Free World.

General Thoughts[]
Now, I'm not a huge fan of the Call of Duty games, but this is set in a nicely done Cold War backdrop, so I wanted to try it out. Here's my review.
Graphics[]
The graphics are what you can expect in a Playstation 4 game, even some details are done nicely even wrinkles on some characters' faces (especially Reagan's famous wrinkles). Though the character renders can look a bit flat at times, but these problems are too far in between. The rain effects are also a bit flat too

Music[]
Like with other games of this Era, the soundtrack is quite cinematic (like that a movie) but, in some parts of the game, there are some rock and roll songs such as "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum and "The Stroke" by Billy Squier. But other than that, the music in this game is really nothing to write home about.

Sounds/Voices[]
The sounds in the game are pretty good, especially that gunfire sounds change whether you're inside or outside, the sounds of breaking glass and crumbling stones also sound good in this game.

Gameplay/Controls[]
If you're familiar with Call of Duty then you should know the gameplay style by now. Unlike Wolfenstein or Doom, CoD focuses a bit more on precision aiming rather than just shooting. So using the ADS is key to shooting and killing the bad guys. Using different weapons is also key, especially taking down enemies silently. Apart from the military tech in the game, you also get to use some spy gear too, such as a Tranquilizer Gun, a Black Light Flashlight. This game also lets you choose what to say when talking to certain people, and sometimes whatever you say affects some aspects of the game. The controls are quite responsive, and they can also be adjusted in the options menu.

Replay Value[]
The bread and butter of CoD's replay value are the Multiplayer, you can play locally or online. Even in the Campaign mode, you can collect intel and other forms of evidence which in turn allows you to go on side missions that are not directly tied to the main story of the game.

Final Thoughts[]
The only big problem with this game is that you have to separately download the Campaign mode which is in 3 parts, but once they're downloaded, it's worth the hassle. The game's story is a lot of fun and it has a great Cold War atmosphere. So if you like CoD, or FPSs (or both) this could be a pick up for you.
